MEDIA OPP: IUPAT Donates Backpacks to Harbor City Elementary
MELBOURNE, FLA. – On Monday, August 8, 2016, the Painters and Allied Trades Union (IUPAT)
will be donating approximately 600 backpacks full of grade level supplies to the students
at Harbor City Elementary on Monday, August 8, 2016.
This donation is made possible through the PATCH
(Painters and Allied Trades Children’s Hope) IUPAT Charity Fund,
which chooses four areas within the United States and has local IUPAT members collect
donations to support a hometown charity or organization. These donations are used to
address literacy, education, childhood illnesses, emotional well-being, poverty and
homelessness.
The donation event, coordinated by school administration and representatives from the
IUPAT communications department, is estimated at worth of $40,000.
Thanks to this generous donation, students in grades VPK – sixth will receive the
supplies and materials they need to have a successful school year. Students will be
receiving their backpacks during registration on Monday from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Parents and families were notified of the event ahead of time, so the students’
overjoyed faces should make for a great photo opportunity! To celebrate this
recognition, board member, Karen Henderson and Debra Greco, IUPAT representative,
will both be in attendance.
